Kansas City closes Midtown store after five people are injured

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The city has closed a business where five people were injured in a shooting last week.

The city said Westport Media Collective does not have a valid operating license. The company also did not have a current inspection by the fire marshal. Due to the violations, the business had to close immediately.

Members of the Kansas City Public Safety Task Force investigated the shooting that occurred Oct. 9 at the Midtown store. A city spokesman also said the task force reviewed a number of complaints about the company from other people in the area.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Public Safety Task Force marched through Midtown and Westport as part of the city’s ongoing safety efforts in the popular area.
