Horry County Police are on the scene of the barricade situation in the Forestbrook area

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Residents of a Forestbrook community have been asked to evacuate the area as police work on a barricade situation.

Horry County deputies and officers are in the Summit Trail area. Horry County Deputy Mikayla Moskov said sheriff’s deputies were attempting to deliver papers at the home when a person barricaded themselves inside.

Witnesses said they saw police officers approach the house with guns drawn and order the person to come out.

Residents in the area were evacuated out of an abundance of caution. HCPD Special Operations Units also assist with negotiations and drone surveillance.

People are asked to avoid the area at this time.
