Man sentenced to probation after stabbing his girlfriend in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – A man has been convicted after stabbing his girlfriend to death in Duluth in early 2023.

Joshua White, 21, of Minneapolis, was sentenced to nearly two years in prison, but that sentence was suspended.

With this decision, he will serve three years of probation for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

As long as White doesn’t commit the same or similar crime within that period, he won’t have to serve the 21 months behind bars.

The incident occurred back in January 2023 in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Duluth.

In July 2024, White pleaded guilty to the charge.

Authorities found a woman covered in blood with a “severe” laceration to her head, according to court documents.

White, who was 19 at the time of the crime, left the scene before police arrived.

The officers knew White from previous calls they had responded to.

They eventually tracked his vehicle into Aitkin County and arrested him.

Authorities also said they found four guns and three knives in the vehicle.

According to court records, White has not previously been convicted of a crime in adult court.
