Fundraiser to support a Rockford firefighter injured in a "horrific accident."

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A GoFundMe has been created to support the family of a firefighter injured in an accident.

Richie Macias reportedly suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident on October 12th.

The Rockford Fire Department shared a GoFundMe account to support the Macias family in his recovery.

According to the GoFundMe page, Macias is currently on a ventilator but is said to be showing signs of improvement.

Currently, they have raised nearly $47,000 from 404 donations, exceeding their original goal of $25,000.
