Real estate prices in Southern California are reaching all-time highs, forcing many to exit the real estate market because they cannot afford it. And it has discouraged many would-be sellers from abandoning their homes because they, too, can’t afford to move. What can be done in your city to make housing more affordable?

I think we are already in the process of implementing some. Zoning – In my opinion, new developments are too close together anyway. Housing projects – if I’m not mistaken, there is a new project that includes affordable housing or transitional housing. I’m not sure what they call it. I think pricing is largely out of this council’s control.

What would be your top two priorities if elected/re-elected?

Community involvement. Daily walking tour of the neighborhood. “Block Talk.” Touch base daily. Different day, different neighborhood.

There is no reason the community should have to wait for a council meeting to speak to a representative. We help homeless people transition from the streets into society. Very urgently needed. Most won’t make it. It’s sad.

The U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in Grants Pass v. Johnson gave state and local officials the authority to clear public homeless encampments after years of tension over the issue. And Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order in July directing state agencies to clear homeless encampments from state property and requiring cities and local leaders to do the same. What did you think of the decision?

I agree 100%. It’s about time. Having been in this situation, I can honestly say: Nothing makes things possible like government. Homeless people need shelter, but they need more than just housing. It comes without any responsibility. Because of the drugs, many will go back to the streets. That’s where I would be most helpful. I talk about this in my candidate statement.

Do you think dividing your city into districts is the best way to govern the city? If so, what makes this district different from the rest of the city? If not, how would you ensure that no one is left behind?

The way I’m going to do it, yes. I’m going to break it down and take my “Block Talk” to a new place every day. People will love it.

Do you believe your city’s finances are managed responsibly and effectively? If elected, what changes would you push for to maximize taxpayer dollars?

This is my weakest area, but I can’t wait to find out. That’s why I won’t blame anyone.
