Arrest made in connection with shooting near high school football game in Pompano Beach – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

POMPANO BEACH, FL. (WSVN) – A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured two people near a high school football game in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Nicolas Yves Achille of Plantation was arrested last Friday after investigators identified him as a suspect.

The incident occurred on October 5 at approximately 9:45 p.m. when BSO officers responded to reports of shots fired near the 1200 block of Northwest Sixth Avenue, near Blanche Ely High School.

While on scene, BSO said responders located a victim with a gunshot wound and administered life-saving measures before emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators later learned that a second victim had also been shot and taken to a local hospital by Lauderhill Fire Rescue. His injuries were also considered non-life-threatening.

Initial investigations determined that the shooting occurred outside of school and was not related to the football game itself. After investigative efforts, including a tip received from Crime Stoppers, investigators were able to identify Achille as a suspect.

Achille was arrested after BSO detectives issued an arrest warrant in Fort Lauderdale.

He is currently facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder and is being processed at the Juvenile Assessment Center.
