Derek Hough opens up about his wife Hayley’s serious health scare ahead of her “DWTS” return

The two were on tour with “DWTS” in December 2023 when Hayley had a seizure offstage. “It’s really hard to even put it into words,” the dance champ-turned-judge tears up in the clip. “We rushed her to the hospital. She was still wearing her costume. And the doctor came to me and said she had a severe brain bleed, so they needed surgery immediately.”

The doctor also told Hough, “She may not make it, and even if she does, she won’t be the same person.”

Hayley was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma due to a ruptured blood vessel. Doctors performed a craniectomy, removing part of her skull.
