Missing 7-year-old Florida boy found dead in water after alarm, officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A seven-year-old Florida boy who was reported missing overnight was found dead in a body of water not far from his home, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

A missing child alert was issued for Emerson Felix in Florida just after 4 a.m. Tuesday. At about 10:30 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the boy’s body had been found in a body of water not far from his Orlando home.

“We are devastated to report that our deputies have located the late Emerson Felix in a body of water near his home where he was reported missing. “Our detectives are still investigating how this tragedy occurred,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on X.

“We mourn Emerson’s loss and extend our deepest condolences and prayers to his family, classmates and everyone who loved him.”

The initial missing child report said Felix was last seen in the 1700 block of Flintshire Street in Orlando.
