Catskill police are searching for driver who hit and killed dog

Catskill police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a dog and then left the scene.

It happened on October 10 at around 6:08 p.m. Police said a bluish Kia Sportage struck the dog named “Rocky” at the corner of Thompson and Main streets in the Village of Catskill.

Rocky fled from a residence where he was being observed and ran into the street, police said.

Rocky was taken to Ulster Animal Hospital where he had to be euthanized due to the severity of his injuries.

The driver is asked to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Catskill police at 518-943-2244.
