Jury acquits former KPD officers of criminal charges

A Sullivan County grand jury acquitted a former Kingsport Police Department sergeant of criminal wrongdoing. Daniel Horne resigned from the KPD on May 17 amid an investigation into an alleged inappropriate photo. A grand jury unanimously decided there was no evidence that Horne contacted a minor or committed a criminal act, saying he was a victim of catfishing and extortion. Kingsport police, the TBI and Special Agent Brian Fraley investigated the case. A search warrant revealed that the account used to blackmail the official came from Greece, Turkey and Nigeria.
