Created by Taylor Sheridan, this spy thriller featured an impressive narrative and a stellar cast, making it an instant favorite. With fantastic action sequences and a captivating, suspense-filled story, the series is sure to return for the second season.

The thriller follows Joe, an employee of a special CIA program that recruits female agents for undercover missions. She is said to befriend the daughter of a suspected terrorist weapons supplier. The show explores her life as she continues to keep her mission alive while balancing her family.

The trailer for the second season was released on September 19 and it looks intense. Although many details are hinted at, the trailer never quite reveals what to expect from the new season. However, one thing is certain: the show will be full of adventures, secrets and intense action.

Given the show’s success, it’s safe to say that Special forces can become a franchise that could expand beyond season two with newer recruits. While writers’ strikes in 2023 delayed the series’ release, Special Unit: Lioness will be back with season 2 Sunday, October 27, 2024, on Paramount+.

While the first two episodes will be available in the first week, the show will continue in regular format with one episode per week.


Who is in the cast of Special Unit: Lioness Season 2?

According to reports, many main cast members will reprise their roles in Season 2. Zoe Saldaña will return as Joe, the head of the CIA program. While Laysla De Oliveira will return as Cruz, Morgan Freeman’s Edwin Mullins will also be promoted to a crucial role in Season 2.

Nicole Kidman will return as Kaitlyn Meade. Other cast members include Michael Kelly as Byron and Thad Luckinbill as Kyle.

Among the new faces, Genesis Rodriguez will join the cast as Josephine “Josie” Carillo. This season she will play a helicopter pilot and a new recruit.

The second season of Special Unit: Lioness The series is expected to pick up where the first season left off: Cruz abandoning her mission. Rodriguez’s character will be the recruit for the squadron who, like Joe, is sent on a deadly mission.

Meanwhile, we can also expect Joe to balance her work and family. Given the repercussions of her actions from Season 1, we can see how she is torn between her mission and her family. The story arc for each character in the series looks promising.
