One person died and another was arrested after an altercation

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A Pikeville woman is dead and a Pikeville man is charged in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Old Wagner Station Road in Pike County on Monday.

As officers attempted to contact residents of the home, a man began making threats toward law enforcement.

KSP’s Special Response Team was activated.

Police negotiated for several hours before arresting 59-year-old Alex Yuhas.

Police found Paulette Mullins, 75, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

Mullins was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

Her body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Yuhas was charged with murder, domestic violence, terroristic threats and third-degree assault.

Yuhas was taken to the Pike County Detention Center.
