Assonet man is charged with rape and assault and arraigned in Fall River court

A man accused of rape, assault and battery is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Fall River District Court, police said.

Brendan D. Nunes, 23, of Assonet, was arrested Friday, police said in a statement. He is being held in the Bristol County Jail on $50,000 bail, police said.

Nunes is alleged to have committed multiple crimes, including rape, use of drugs for sexual intercourse, strangulation/suffocation, intimidation of a witness and three counts of assault, police said.
