Teen appears in court charged with attempted murder after ‘stabbing’ Westcliff

A teenager appeared in court this morning charged with attempted murder after a woman was reportedly stabbed at a home in Westcliff.

Aiden Croot, 18, of Silverdale Avenue, Westcliff, was charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place following reports of a stabbing.

Police were called to Silverdale Avenue at around 4.10pm yesterday afternoon after reports a woman had suffered stab wounds.

Upon rapid arrival at the address, a woman was found with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening or life-altering.

Croot appeared at Southend Magistrates Court this morning. No plea was made and he was remanded in custody at the next crown court hearing on November 12.

A cordon was erected around the crime scene last night as police launched an attempted murder investigation and numerous emergency responders attended.

AAn arrest was made at the scene.

After the incident, Supt Leigh Norris said: “While we take this investigation very seriously, due to the isolated nature of this incident, there is no ongoing threat to the public.”
