Police arrest a school employee in Noida for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl

According to TOI, a housekeeping staff member was arrested for allegedly raping a three-year-old student at a private school in Noida last week.

The accused, a resident of Nithari who was hired on contract basis a few months ago, allegedly took the girl to an area outside the CCTV coverage of the school on October 9 and sexually assaulted her, TOI reported quoting police sources.

According to the TOI report, after noticing their daughter being unusually quiet after returning from school, her parents went to a doctor where she complained of severe stomach pain. In a complaint lodged at the Sector 20 police station on October 10, the family said that a private doctor who examined the child found injuries on her private parts and pointed out possible “molestation”.

The child later confided to her parents that a man who was handing out plates at school had “poked” her private area, causing her pain. After the incident, the girl refused to go back to school, her parents said.

Noida DCP Ram Badan Singh confirmed that the accused, who worked in the school’s housekeeping department, was booked under Section 65(2) (rape) of the BNS and relevant sections of the POCSO Act. He was arrested on October 10 and as per TOI report, the school management is also being questioned about the incident.

“Given the security measures in place, the incident in question appears unlikely. To date, no evidence has been found in the CCTV footage reviewed. However, we fully support the parents and police as the investigation continues. “The school has sought a copy of the FIR,” TOI said in a statement from the school.(The victim’s identity has not been disclosed to protect her privacy in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines on sexual assault cases.)
