Two people were transported in a crash in Lawrence County

Over the weekend, two people were flown to trauma centers after a collision Friday in Lawrence County.

The Lawrence County Fire Department said units were dispatched to a report of a crash that left a vehicle on fire and people trapped along Buffalo Road near Valley Road.

According to officials, Ethridge Fire Department crews were first on scene and confirmed that two people were severely trapped in one of the vehicles.

While the fire department worked to remove people from the vehicle, two rescue helicopters were called to the scene of the accident.

Lawrence County EMS personnel handled the treatment of the patients.

After the individuals were extricated from the vehicle, they were flown to a nearby Level 1 trauma center.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. No further details about this incident have been released.
