Nam Yoon Su, Jin Ho Eun’s BL Drama ‘Love in the Big City’ Called for Cancellation by Conservative Groups; Trailer dismantled

“Love in the Big City,” starring Nam Yoon Su and Jin Ho Eun, is scheduled to premiere on October 21st. Ahead of its highly anticipated release, the series and those associated with it have been embroiled in an unexpected controversy. South Korean conservative groups have protested the show’s cancellation, claiming it will have a “significant impact” on children.

According to recent reports from Korean media, a parent association spokesperson said that they were shocked after seeing the preview of the drama. “The trailer, full of scenes of nudity, deep kisses and physical intimacy between people of the same gender, was unbearable to watch,” the person said.

The conservative groups further added: “It is appalling that a government agency responsible for raising awareness of rising HIV/AIDS rates among youth is ignoring its ethical and moral responsibilities and using taxes to support drama “that promote and glorify homosexuality.” They also claimed that this “type of content” would cause mental and physical harm to their children.

Due to the ongoing backlash, all teasers were privatized on October 12th and the main trailer was completely removed. After another round of reviews, it will now be republished on October 16th.

In this regard, the production team of Love in the Big City stated that the drama’s trailer has not been released yet because the review board said it is not suitable for young people’s viewing. They revealed that it is awaiting re-review by the Korea Media Rating Board (KMRB).

However, since the trailer already met OTT’s rating rating, there was no need to leave it unreleased for KMRB’s review. Meanwhile, Park Sang Young, the author of the original novel and also the author of the series, said, “I had to remove the official trailer because I was in the sights of a certain organization and the relevant departments were flooded with complaints, and so was I.” angry that I couldn’t sleep all night.”

On his social media account, he assured his fans: “No matter what happens, the premiere will definitely take place on October 21st. Have fun with it! In the end we will win!”

Love in the Big City will premiere on TVING in South Korea and on Viki for fans worldwide.
