1 dead, 1 injured in two crashes north of Colorado Springs

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – One person is dead and a second person is seriously injured after two collisions north of Colorado Springs.

According to State Patrol, the first crash occurred late Monday afternoon on I-25 near the North Gate exit. According to police, a man in an F-150 was driving erratically in the southbound lanes, causing him to collide with a Toyota RAV4, then hit a guardrail and eventually roll over. He was taken to hospital where he later died. The driver of the Toyota only suffered minor injuries.

Several hours after the initial accident, a CDOT truck was still cleaning up at the scene when a Honda Pilot struck it from behind. The driver was seriously injured and taken to hospital. According to State Patrol, the CDOT vehicle was empty at the time of the accident and the worker was not injured.

At the time of writing, all that could be identified was that the driver killed was a 69-year-old man. The driver in the second accident was a woman, but no information about her identity was provided.
