Jay Slater investigator claims he knows the truth about why the teenager left Airbnb for the final trip before his tragic death – UK News

Detective Mark Williams-Thomas has claimed he knows the reason why British teenager Jay Slater left the Airbnb in Tenerife hours before his tragic death.

The Lancashire teenager’s disappearance on June 17 sparked a large-scale search across the Spanish island after his girlfriend Lucy Law contacted local authorities.

His disappearance attracted widespread media attention as volunteers flocked to the island to help search for Jay, 19.

Unfortunately, police found Jay’s body almost a month later, on July 15, in a steep ravine in the northwest of the island. A post-mortem examination later revealed that the teenager had died from traumatic head injuries resulting from a fall from a height.

The Spanish Civil Guard added that his death was likely instantaneous.

Officially the case was classified as an accident. Since then, however, questions have remained unanswered as to why the teenager decided to leave the Airbnb he had traveled to in the island’s rural Masca region and make an 11-hour walk back to his accommodation.

Private investigator Mark Williams-Thomas has now come forward and claims to know why the teenager decided to leave the Airbnb and walk to his accommodation.

Williams-Thomas shared a video update on his social media accounts and confirmed that he had been in contact with all relevant people.

He also hinted at knowing the reason why Jay decided to leave the Masca house and not return, but added that he would only reveal the information when “the time is right.”

“I have to be very careful,” he said. “What I don’t want to do is burden the family with any more trauma than they’ve already experienced, and that’s why I would work very closely with Debbie and the family to reveal that information.”

“Maybe soon it will be time to do that, but not now.”

Williams-Thomas didn’t give a timeline for when people could expect the update, but added that he was still in touch with Jay’s mother, Debbie Duncan.

Elsewhere in the clip, the investigator claimed that a lot of “misinformation” was spread online in the early days of the case, such as various conspiracy theories about Jay’s whereabouts and his friends’ activities.

“One of the things that is very clear is that there is a huge amount of misinformation,” he said. “I went back and watched some of the videos I made while I was there in relation to my investigation and thought processes during the investigation.

“You find out information, look at it, and then a few days later that information changes or is proven in some way.”

“Some of the information I received in the first few days was incorrect and I had to verify it.”

He also added that he was able to speak to “all” of Jay’s friends as well as one of the men at Airbnb.
