Boy, 4, Found Dead in NYC; Mom interviewed: Sources

According to sources, a four-year-old boy was found dead in a Harlem home and his mother was being questioned by police as the coroner searched for the cause of death.

The child was found unconscious and unresponsive by police at a home on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.

sources told FOX 5 NYs Lisa Evers said the boy’s grandmother had been located and told investigators she had the other three siblings with her. The police want his grandmother to take the children to the local station so they can see what condition they are in.

According to police, the child was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to sources, the boy’s father called 911 when he noticed the child unresponsive in the sixth floor apartment.

Paramedics found the child unconscious but kept her alive and quickly rushed her to the hospital, about 10 blocks away. Sources said doctors and staff did everything they could to keep him alive, but he was pronounced dead at around 5:50 this morning

The child’s mother was taken to the 32nd Precinct for questioning.

Several residents reported FOX 5 that the mother always wore the same dirty-looking clothes and was never seen with her four children or brought them food.

Neighbors said they tried to offer her clothes but never accepted.

There are currently no charges against the parents.

Police are awaiting the results of the coroner’s inquest, which will reveal the cause of the boy’s death.

The child’s identity will be kept secret until notified.
