Wise County, TX – According to Wise County EMS, a two-vehicle crash on Highway 287 in Wise County left two people dead and five others hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The fatal accident occurred on US 287 near Alvord just after 9 p.m. on October 12th.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling northbound with four occupants when, for some reason, it crossed the grassy median, entered the southbound lane of USHighway 287 and struck one Southbound vehicle collided with three occupants.

According to DPS, two people were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

Five people were critically injured in the accident. Five medical helicopters transported patients to hospitals throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. One of the helicopters took a patient to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.

The incident remains under investigation.
