Jamie Foxx gets emotional after returning to the stage following the 2023 health crisis

Jamie Foxx is back and feeling all the emotions after making his highly anticipated return to the stage.

The OscarThe award-winning actor and comedian recently performed his “Another chance: An evening with Jamie Foxx“ is performing in Atlanta, taking the stage for the first time in 18 years. The show was also a heartfelt moment for Foxx after he suffered serious health scares in 2023.

Foxx took to Instagram early Monday to express his gratitude and reflect on the journey that led him back to performing. “God is good… As I post these pictures my heart and soul are filled with nothing but pure joy,” he wrote, captioning a series of photos from his shows in Atlanta, including one in which he appeared to be moved to tears seemed. “On October 3rd, 4th and 5th I had the opportunity to tell my side of the story and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia. I have to thank you, Atlanta – you showed up and showed yourself.”

In April 2023, Foxx’s daughter Corinne announced that her father had experienced a “medical complication” but was on the road to recovery thanks to quick medical intervention. Foxx spent months recovering and later shared in a heartfelt Instagram post that he was “finally feeling like myself again.”

Reflecting on his performances in Atlanta, Foxx explained that his show was not just a comedy, but “an artistic explanation” of his life-changing health ordeal. He expressed his deep gratitude to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta for helping him recover. “You made it possible for me to come back and be on stage doing what I love doing,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #secondchance.

Months after the health crisis, Foxx made a surprise appearance at the Critics Choice Celebration of Cinema & Television, where he reflected on the experience and how it changed his outlook on life. “I appreciate every single minute now. It’s different,” he told the audience. He described the terrifying moment when he thought it might be the end: “It’s hard when it’s almost over and you see the tunnel.”

Earlier this year, speaking to a group in Phoenix, Foxx elaborated on the health crisis, explaining that a severe headache on April 11 left him hospitalized for 20 days, a time he has no memory of .
