Senior woman dies in accident

A 69-year-old woman died Saturday evening near the West Port of Entry after the driver of a vehicle collided with the car in which the fatal victim was traveling.

According to media reports, the incident occurred at Colon Avenue and Pedro F. Perez y Ramirez Street at 11:57 p.m. Saturday.

According to the reports, the fatal victim was traveling in a gray 2012 Ford Fiesta driven by Maria Ines. The vehicle suffered an impact on the passenger side.

The fatal victim was identified as Esperanza Munoz Hernandez.

The other vehicle was a blue 2020 Buick Encore driven by Jorge Enrique, 26.

According to the reports, Maria Ines was taken to a hospital under police custody because she was identified as a suspect in the case.

La Voz newspaper reported that Maria Ines was driving Pedro F. Perez y Ramirez’s vehicle westbound and got into the path of the Buick.

The newspaper added that Jorge Enrique tried to escape but was arrested by police. The man was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

Asian immigrants found in hideout house

Ten immigrants from Syria and Turkey were found in hiding by state police officers.

According to media reports, the immigrants were found in a house in the Fraccionamiento Condesa area.

A reporter called police to report that SUVs were constantly being seen at the home. The reporter also said that police heard arguments in the house where the parties were taking place.

State police officers were dispatched to the home. Upon arrival, a person asked police for water and food.

At the scene, police officers found seven men, two women and a girl, only two of whom spoke Spanish. The immigrants told police they had not drunk water or eaten in days. The immigrants who had their documents revoked were abandoned the night before they were discovered.

The immigrants’ health was first checked and later taken to a state police station to get water and food. The immigrants were expected to be transferred to the National Immigration Institute for possible deportation.

Robbery suspect arrested

Mexicali police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a supermarket.

Mexicali police said the suspect was identified as Jesús Adolfo, 30.

The incident was reported at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, at a store located at Magisterio Street and Rio Presidio Street in the Colonia Carbajal neighborhood.

According to police, the suspect allegedly stole 2,400 pesos, or about $126, from the cash register and fled on a motorcycle.

The suspect was found two blocks north of the store and arrested.

The suspect was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

According to police, the motorcycle was reported stolen. The police couldn’t find the cash.

Two arrested for robbery

Mexicali police officers arrested a man for a supermarket robbery Sunday morning.

Mexicali police said the suspect was not identified because the person did not have identification on him.

The suspect and an accomplice allegedly robbed an Oxxo store at Macristy Avenue and Vicente Guerrero Avenue in the Colonia Republica Mexicana area.

The arrested suspect, who was wearing black clothing and carrying a handkerchief, was carrying a gray backpack and was carrying a fake weapon.

A store employee told police one of the suspects brandished a gun to demand cash.

The suspects stole 4,000 pesos, or nearly $200, and fled the scene on bicycles.

The arrest occurred blocks away from the store containing the stolen items, including cleaning supplies, police said.

The second suspect has not been found.
