Alcohol involved in crash near I-35

DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – An accident caused traffic to be rerouted just off I-35 in Duluth Monday evening.

It happened near Fifth Avenue West and Harbor Drive around 4 p.m.

According to the State Patrol, the driver of a Dodge Grand Caravan ran a red light at the I-35 exit and crashed into a Ford Focus that was parked at the intersection.

Authorities say the driver of the van was not injured but had been drinking.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

We are working to learn about a possible arrest and charges.
