The community gathers for a vigil to honor the brothers fatally stabbed in Soundview

Dozens of family, friends and community members gathered in Soundview Monday night to mourn the loss of two brothers from Peru.

According to police, the siblings were taken to hospitals where they were pronounced dead.

“I thought that they would be alive, and I didn’t care about their condition, but that they would be alive,” unfortunately’s widow said. “When I arrived they told me, ‘No, they were both already dead.’ “

Unfortunately’s widow said her husband went to exercise and then to a party.

Now her four-year-old son is without his father.

Gilmer Saldana said he witnessed the incident on Sunday.

He said there was an argument about women outside the party and the attacker attacked the witness first before one brother got the other.

“I’ll be right here [on the sidewalk]And [one brother] comes back and they immediately attack her; and I have seen both [the brothers] lying on the ground,” Saldana said.

The group demanded justice for the two men, who they said worked hard.

“That’s impossible,” said the widow. “No one can ease this pain.”

Police said there had been no arrests as of Monday evening and the investigation was ongoing.
