Darius Rucker kept the good times rolling even after his body hit the ground following an unfortunate slip at a concert over the weekend.

Rucker, who was performing with his band Hootie & the Blowfish at his annual curated Riverfront Revival in Charleston, South Carolina, didn’t let the trip spoil the show.

The 58-year-old singer had just begun singing the 2009 hit “Alright” in a fan-shot video when his foot appeared to hit a monitor and fall forward onto the stage.

Without batting an eyelid, Rucker joked, “I’m fucking old.”

Later in the show, the “Wagon Wheel” singer addressed the elephant in the room and poked fun at his stumbling on stage.

“We did this all summer,” he said. “I didn’t fall once. But I ruined my a– in my hometown.”

“I think the thing that makes me work so hard is that I always feel like I haven’t done enough,” he said.

Although he sang and recorded music most of his life, there was one defining moment when he knew he had reached a level of success.

“That’s when I really thought, ‘This really works. This is what happens. “People get it,’ and that was pretty cool,” recalls Rucker.

With titles like “Only Wanna Be With You,” “Hold My Hand” and “Let Her Cry,” the South Carolina band’s debut catalog was released in July 1994 and has already been certified platinum 21 times.

“I mean, it’s the 30th anniversary of ‘Cracked Rear View’ and that record is so important,” Rucker said, boasting of one of the “10 best-selling studio records of all time.”

Hootie & the Blowfish released four more studio albums before going on hiatus in 2008, which led Rucker to pursue a completely different genre: country music.

Even as a solo artist, Rucker hasn’t stopped recording. In 2023, he released his eighth solo album, Carolyn’s Boy, a tribute to his late mother, who died in 1992, just as Hootie was taking off.

“She was my biggest cheerleader, my biggest supporter,” he said. “Our faith is something that was taught to us from a young age, and you know, that stays with us always. So she means everything to me.”
