Authorities say the driver and passenger died in an early morning crash on the New Jersey Bridge

The driver and passenger of a car died early Saturday morning after they were involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Newark, authorities said.

Officers responded to the westbound lanes of the Raymond Boulevard Bridge in the city’s Ironbound section around 4 a.m. and discovered three cars were involved in the crash, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

The driver and passenger of one of the cars, identified Monday as Anaji S. Ryan and Ayriella M. Hughes, respectively, were pronounced dead at the scene, the office said.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to area hospitals for treatment, officials said. The severity of her injuries was unknown.

The crash was still under investigation by authorities and no further details were released Monday. Anyone with information was asked to call the office’s hotline at 877-847-7432.
