Man pleads not guilty to murder in stabbing in northwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 19-year-old man accused in a fatal knife attack in northwest Bakersfield pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder Monday.

According to court records, Bradley Perez was held without bail in connection with the death of 20-year-old Lawrence James Leyvas. He is due back in court on October 24th.

The mother of an unlicensed driver involved in a fatal accident had to answer on two counts

Officials said Leyvas was stabbed around 2 a.m. Oct. 6 on Stone River Court, south of Hageman Road and west of Renfro Road. He was taken to Mercy Hospital Southwest, where he was pronounced dead.

Perez was arrested on October 10th.
