Mother charged after her 4-year-old son was found dead in Harlem

Police have identified the 4-year-old boy found dead in a Harlem home and arrested his mother.

Jahmeik Modlin’s mother, Nytavia Ragsdale, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Modlin was found unconscious and lifeless by police at a home on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to police, Modlin was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Sources said Modlin’s father called 911 when he found the child unresponsive in the sixth-floor apartment.

Paramedics found the child unconscious but kept Modlin alive and rushed him to the hospital, about 10 blocks away.

Sources said doctors and staff did everything they could to keep him alive, but Modlin was pronounced dead at around 5:50 a.m. this morning

sources told FOX 5 NYs Lisa Evers told investigators that Modlin’s grandmother had been located, and she told investigators that she had the other three siblings with her.

The police want his grandmother to take the children to the local station so they can see what condition they are in.
