The coroner identifies the man who died in the Fairfield County crash as a passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WIS) – Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill identified a man who died in a crash.

According to Hill, the victim was identified as 56-year-old Tony Lee Canty of Ridgeway, who was sitting in the back seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.

The accident occurred on Saturday, October 12, when a Chevy SUV and a Ford traveling north on US 21 collided.

Hill said Canty was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
