Eagles starter clearly not happy with team after Week 6 scare

Philadelphia Eagles veteran Lane Johnson was part of the elite offense during his 11 seasons with the team. The All-Pro offensive tackle has contributed to top-five offensive units multiple times during his illustrious career, but the 34-year-old is not happy with the Eagles’ current offense.

After the bye week, the Eagles were able to prevail against the Cleveland Browns, but the victory was anything but convincing. The Eagles were 9.5-point favorites entering Week 6, but found themselves just a few costly Browns penalties away in the red zone after a disappointing loss. Lane Johnson wasn’t particularly impressed with the performance of the offensive unit, which failed to score any points in the first quarter for the fifth consecutive game.

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro reported that Johnson called the offense “stuffed up” and that there are still a lot of problems to fix.

“We’re a clogged offense… We’re definitely frustrated. We have a lot of skill, a lot of talent and we make games more competitive than they need to be. We have to fix that. “As far as talent goes, this is one of the more challenging offenses I’ve been a part of, but we still have to prove it.”

Johnson has every right to be frustrated. Eagles fans are also disappointed with this team’s lack of performance. In recent weeks, the absence of DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown could have been used as an excuse, but the star duo returned for the game against the Browns.

Very few teams have the Eagles’ playmaking ability, especially after signing Saquon Barkley. Looking at individual production, Barkley, Smith, Brown and Jalen Hurts are all playing reasonably well. However, the team is average in all offensive metrics. If head coach Nick Sirianni can’t get this talented group on track, his time in Philadelphia could come to an end sooner than expected.
