The investigation continues after evidence links suspected carjackings to fatal shootings

SAN ANTONIO – Police are still investigating after multiple tips allegedly link two suspects arrested for their alleged involvement in a car theft ring to a shooting that killed a 4-year-old girl.

As of Monday, neither Bryan Salazar nor Isaiah Perales had been charged in the shooting death of 4-year-old Maryann Lyn Marble, who was killed back in May.

Police are still searching for a third suspect who may have been involved in the attack, Ashton Garcia. Garica is currently wanted for his alleged involvement in the car theft ring.

Court documents filed by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department say that had Bryan Salazar’s phone not been reset to factory settings, officers would have seen the following:[Bryan] was the person who orchestrated and actively participated in the shooting that resulted in the child’s death…”

Investigators believe the shooting may have been in retaliation for the death of Salazar’s older stepbrother, Xavier Perez, who was shot just weeks earlier in April.

Bryan Salazar was charged with tampering with or falsifying physical evidence and possession of marijuana. Digital records seized from Salazar’s iCloud allegedly link Salazar to the crime scene, the stolen vehicle and the firearm allegedly used.

Multiple trips linked both Salazar and Perales to the shooting, as did a recorded inmate phone call between associates of the two suspects that suggested the two carried out the attack.

A phone tip also claimed the two were involved in a separate shooting that killed Marcus Chavez. However, this claim has not been confirmed.

When Salazar was arrested, a bulletproof armor system that may have been used in the attack was found in the trunk of his girlfriend’s car. His girlfriend, Jocelynn Guzman, was arrested at the same time for her alleged involvement in the car theft ring.

The investigation into the events of May 8 is ongoing and as of Monday no one has been charged with murder.
