Eau Claire Police hold a recruiting ceremony at the Pablo Center

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Eau Claire Police Department will award seven of its own new titles Monday during a promotional ceremony at the Pablo Center.

The Pablo Center was packed with officers and their families who watched as each officer was promoted, including a deputy chief, three lieutenants and three sergeants.

Putting the message of protecting and serving into action.

“They will be guardians of peace and freedom and help shape our community in a way that aligns with our community’s desires for police services,” said Chief Matt Rokus.

Surrounded by her loved ones, Bridget Coit, who was promoted to lieutenant, says playing a bigger role in the community means a lot to her.

“It has truly been an honor to serve our community members every day. And it’s just great to raise our family here, to really be a part of our community and now to do this as a supervisor along with my other supervisors,” said Lt. Coit.

Another officer, Robert Schreier, said he is looking forward to his new role as a sergeant.

“I am a very practical person, we have a young department and I look forward to mentoring them and raising them to treat the community with dignity and respect. Even though it is a new role, it doesn’t change my mindset and that is to protect the community and make them proud of us,” said Sgt. Schreier.

Eau Claire Police Chief Matt Rokus says these seven officers will make a difference in the future.

“I’m looking forward to the future. All seven were promoted today, they are prepared, they have vision, they are proven leaders and they will help our department take the next best step forward,” said Chief Rokus.

And a special shout out to Deputy Chief Benjamin Frederick, Lt. Brandon Dohms, Lt. Olivia Erl, Sgt. Matthew Sanda and Sgt. Michael Cullen about their successes.
