Man killed in Rockford shooting identified

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 26-year-old man killed in a shooting early Sunday morning has been identified.

Octavius ​​Smith, of Rockford, died of his injuries at a local hospital, according to the Winnebago County coroner’s office.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred around 2:45 a.m. Oct. 13 in the area of ​​South Main Street and Race Street.
