Harrison Butker announces his third child and defends his inaugural speech

CV NEWS FEED // Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker recently announced the birth of his third child while discussing his controversial remarks from his commencement speech at Benedictine College.

A devout Catholic, Butker recently became the NFL’s highest-paid kicker when the Kansas City Chiefs extended his contract in August, CatholicVote reported.

During The Ingraham Angle’s campaign with Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Butker revealed that he and his wife now have three children.

Neither he nor his wife Isabelle had publicly announced the birth of their third child, although Butker had revealed earlier this year that they had another child “on the way,” according to a report from Heavy.com.

Butker shared the news while also addressing the criticism he received over his well-received commencement speech at Benedictine College, clarifying that in his statements he was “trying to express the lives of so many women who are living their lives dedicated to the housewife and the one who raises the children.”

Butker emphasized that this “beautiful role” should not be “diminished” and expressed his appreciation for his mother and wife and their commitment to their families.

“I was able to watch my wonderful mother sacrifice so much to be home and raise me as much as possible,” Butker said. “I was able to experience that now that we have three children, my wife can be with the children,” he continued.

Butker noted that the “amazing bond” between his wife and their children underscored for him the importance of that connection to society as a whole.

“There is nothing wrong, there is nothing shameful if you are a woman and want to spend time with your family and raise your children,” he told listeners.

“It’s not about belittling someone who might want to get a great education and have a great career,” he clarified, “it’s more about how nice it is for women to maybe just step aside and prioritize their family, period spending time with their children, etc., raising their family.”

“I was just trying to express love,” Butker finished.

The Chiefs kicker also supported Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on the show, saying he would support “the most pro-life candidate.”

“I think you have to vote for the person who is most pro-life and we have to be praying men who put God first,” Butker said.
