Kanpur: A 24-year-old nurse, Roshni Gautamcommitted suicide in her on-campus housing Government Medical College in Kannauj. Gautam’s body was discovered hanging in the room with a scarf around his neck. Police launched an investigation into the incident, but the reasons for her suicide remain unknown.
Gautam, who hailed from Bakhaura village in Mallawan area of ​​Hardoi, had been working at the Govt Medical College for two years National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). Due to the lack of available accommodation on campus, she shared a Type 3 hostel with another nurse, Sanju Singh.
On Sunday evening, when Gautam did not leave the room for a long time, Sanju tried to open the door but found that it was locked from inside. With the help of other nurses, they managed to gain entry and were shocked to find Gautam’s lifeless body hanging from a shawl. The police were immediately informed about the incident. Inspector Jitendra Pratap Singh said the nurse’s family had been informed. Once the family arrives, further measures will be taken. Police are investigating the reasons behind Gautam’s tragic decision to end her life, the inspector said. TNN
