44-year-old Aptos man killed in crash on Highway 1 late Sunday night – KION546

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (KION-TV) – A 44-year-old Aptos man was killed in an overnight crash on Highway 1 north of Buena Vista Drive on Sunday, according to the CHP. Investigators also believe that alcohol played a role in this accident.

Officials said officers responded to a crash involving a white 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser traveling south on Highway 1 around 11:50 p.m. Sunday. According to investigators, the Toyota left the road for unknown reasons and crashed into an unpaved embankment.

The car reportedly rolled over onto the right southbound lane, ejecting the driver. According to CHP, the driver suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

Investigators said the cause of the crash was still under investigation. They add that no other vehicles or people were involved in this accident.
