On the afternoon of October 11, officers were dispatched to a shoplifting report that had just occurred at 3115 West Broadway Boulevard. Officers arrived on scene, spoke with witnesses, identified the suspect vehicle and obtained statements from witnesses and victims. MSHP located the vehicle westbound on US 50, just outside of Sedalia. Daniel Deshon Smith, 22, of Kansas City, was arrested for Tampering with Property of Another (2nd Degree), Theft and Harassment. The stolen goods were related to the business.


On Friday evening, officers conducted a traffic stop on a car at West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue because the windshield and side windows had illegal tint. The driver’s side front window measured 5%, which is below the RSMO required 35%. Charges are being filed, but the suspect was not named in the report.


On the night of Oct. 7, officers conducted a traffic stop on an SUV near West 9th Street and South Carr Avenue after it used the turn lane as an acceleration lane and failed to signal a turn. The driver’s Missouri driver’s license was revoked. Daniel Sergeyevich Oskolsky, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of driving under revocation and failure to maintain financial responsibility.


On Sunday evening, officers went to a retail store at 3201 West Broadway Boulevard to investigate a report of a theft in progress. Two people were seen stealing goods and were arrested. Kristi E. Whitcher, 31, and Scott R. Whitcher, 34, both of Sedalia, were arrested for theft. Both were issued citations and released from the scene.


On the night of October 8th, suspicious activity was reported in the 3800 block of Cambridge Drive. A report was created to document the incident.


On Saturday evening, a vehicle that had previously been reported as a careless driver was stopped. The vehicle reportedly swerved all over the road. The vehicle also had illegal window tinting. The stop was made at the intersection of Wilkerson and South Vermont Avenue. The driver had a suspended license and was drunk. Gonzalo Lucas Medina, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of driving while revoked, operating a motor vehicle with vision-impairing devices attached, failure to maintain financial responsibility, felony driving under the influence and felony leaving the scene of an accident. Medina was held at the Pettis County Jail for 24 hours.


On Saturday evening, an officer responded to a retail store at 3201 West Broadway Boulevard for a report of theft. The complainant reported that a woman stole several items, was confronted about securing assets, and then fled the business with some of the stolen property. The theft value was estimated at $182.52. The suspect has been identified and prosecutors are requesting a theft charge.



On Sunday evening, officers were dispatched to a hardware store at 4400 Wisconsin Avenue to investigate a theft that had occurred in the past. Information was collected for a report.


On the night of October 11, officers responded to a disturbance involving a knife in the 800 block of North New York Avenue. It turned out on site that there had been a physical altercation between two people in a domestic relationship. A primary physical attacker could not be identified and a 12-hour log report was generated.


On Sunday afternoon, officers were dispatched to a retail store at 3201 West Broadway Boulevard for a report of trespassing. Officers arrived at the scene, gathered information, documented the previous trespassing report and identified the suspect. Andrea Miller, 20, of Sedalia, was cited for trespassing. Miller was released with a local court date.


Officers responded to the road Sunday afternoon for a hit-and-run accident. Rima Kondratyuk reported the accident occurred in the 700 block of East 5th Street. The investigation is ongoing.

Cruz Escobar, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barry Carle Rivera, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Both Escobar and Rivera were taken to the Pettis County Jail.


On Sunday evening, officers conducted a traffic stop near West 13th Street and South Osage Avenue. It was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear for driving without a license. Ana M. Silva Rubio, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested on her warrant and a new charge of driving while suspended. Rubio was arraigned and released after posting a $150 cash bond.


On the afternoon of October 8, Travis Battershell came into the lobby of the police station to drop off a wallet he had found. The wallet was found in the 500 block of North Park Avenue. It was presented as evidence.


Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 900 block of South Carr Avenue for a report of an intoxicated male attempting to enter a residence. It was determined that the man was too drunk to care for himself. His BAC was measured at .354. Walter Benjamin Xolbol, 22, of unknown address, was taken into protective custody due to his intoxication. Xolbol remained in the hospital’s care.


On Sunday evening, officers responded to the area of ​​East 14th Street and South Ohio Avenue for a report of suspicious activity. Jacob B. Lore reported a series of events that occurred at or near his residence that suggested that someone was harassing him. So far there have been no arrests.

On the afternoon of October 12, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of West 10th Street for a report of a stolen bicycle. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with Trevor Cates. Information was collected and a report was prepared.


On Saturday afternoon, officers made contact with Timothy L. Schultz in the lobby of the police department. Schultz turned in a phone he found in Liberty Park. The telephone was found in the room as a lost property.


On the afternoon of October 9, Allen Charra, an employee at a local movie theater, returned items that were inside the theaters and had been left behind by patrons. Some of the items were returned to the owners, others were used as evidence.


On Friday evening, officers responded to calls of animals running loose in the 1900 block of South Brown Avenue. The animal owner was located and issued a citation. Austin August Boatcher, 27, of Sedalia, was cited for Animals Running at Large.


Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Crescent Driver regarding a found bicycle. Marsha L. Goalder reported that the bike was parked in front of her house.


On the morning of October 8, officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. An internet service provider employee had used a company credit card to pay for gas in a personal vehicle.
