Shots were fired at the Portland duplex, hitting the gas line

PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) – Police are investigating after they say someone fired multiple shots at a Portland home, hitting a gas line.

Police were called to 12 Eleanor Street just before 11pm on Sunday and found several bullet holes in the front of the semi-detached house. Officers said they could smell gas.

The fire department also responded and was able to turn off the gas until Unitil was notified.

No one was injured in the incident. It was not immediately clear how many people were evacuated from the building or for how long.

Police were still investigating Monday morning and had not announced any arrests.
