Husband and wife found dead in basement of Manassa home – NBC4 Washington

A man and a woman were found dead in the basement of a home in Manassas, Virginia, early Sunday morning, according to police.

Prince William County police were called to a home on Hanson Grove Court at 2:39 a.m. for a welfare check. When she entered, they discovered two people shot in the basement of the house. The man and woman who were shot were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the individual was arrested in Brunswick, New Jersey. The investigators assume that they knew those who were shot. No charges are currently being filed against them.

Michael von Gersdorff, a neighbor, was shocked when police knocked on his door at 3 a.m

“We go outside and he tells us he thinks there has been a murder in the neighborhood,” von Gersdorff said.

Police asked him if he heard something on his phone or if shots were fired, but von Gersdorff replied that he did not.

A woman who spoke to News4 claimed to be the daughter of the woman killed. She said her mother lived in the basement with her husband and the basement was rented out by the homeowners.

While many neighbors said they didn’t know the victims, some said they were disturbed that something like this happened on their usual quiet cul-de-sac.

“It’s hard. We’re out here every night playing on the field with our kids,” von Gersdorff said. “Without knowing all the details of what happened, your mind just wonders [about] What’s wrong.”

Police have not released any information about the identity of the person involved or the victims. If anyone has any further information, police are asking them to get in touch.
