One person was killed and six were injured in a freak accident after a tree fell on a train through New Jersey

One person was reportedly killed and six others injured Monday morning after a tree fell on a train traveling through New Jersey.

The accident happened around 6 a.m. in Mansfield Township on the New Jersey River Line light rail route near US 130, WPVI-TV reported.

Initial reports indicate that a tree fell on the train as it crossed the tracks. According to the outlet, the train driver is believed to be trapped inside.

There were 45 passengers on board at the time of the accident.

Video from Chopper 6 shows a large piece of tree trapped under the front of the train and pinned to the tracks.

Emergency services were also on site and helped those injured in the collision.

According to NBC Philadelphia, the New Jersey Transit River Line between Roebling and Bordentown is closed in both directions.
