From Queen of Tears to Lovely Runner, 7 Cringeworthy K-Dramas on Netflix That Are Incredibly Insane

*SPOILER ALERT* “Delulu is the only Solulu” when it comes to watching certain K-dramas – Queen of Tears, Nice runnerand more – where the willing suspension of disbelief takes center stage in order to be thoroughly entertained as a viewer. We’ve put together a list of shows that are worth watching and that feature practical storytelling or over-the-top characters – or, God forbid – both. As captivating as K-dramas may be, it’s hard not to ignore the “delusional” aspect in them…

Queen of Tears To Nice runner7 K-Dramas on Netflix That Were Incredibly Delusional:

1. Queen of Tears

Queen of Tears could arguably be the best K-drama of 2024 [in terms of popularity]. However, the practical storytelling detracts from the overall production value of the romantic comedy. While Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won) suffers from a life-threatening illness, it is Baek Hyun Woo (Kim Soo Hyun) who narrowly escapes death countless times. The fact that they both made it out alive and even had a happy ending is shocking to say the least.

2. Nice runner

Nice runner Is almost Due to the fantasy elements in the romantic comedy K-drama, it is safe from the “delusional” label. However, the mystery behind the clock that allowed Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon) to make numerous time trips to save Ryu Sun Jae (Byeon Wook Seok) was truly solved, and the “why?” wasn’t solved either. Question answered in the story of the serial killer. Then there’s the more obvious deception about Ryu Sun Jae himself – a walking, talking green flag that many would agree only exists in the K-drama world.

3. Still

From an unrealistic green flag to the ultimate red flag, we have Park Jae Eon (Song Kang) in Still. Despite Jae On’s constant commitment-phobia, Yoo Na Bi (Han So Hee) still falls in love with his beautiful face and his “butterfly magic.” What makes her delusion even worse is that Yang Do Hyeok (Chae Jong Hyeop) – who fans affectionately call “Potato Boy” – appeared as the ideal boyfriend right before her eyes. Love, or rather lust, really drives you crazy!

4. Crash landing on you

Crash landing on you takes the Delilu existence up a notch by capturing a love story between Ri Jeong Hyeok (Hyun Bin), a North Korean captain, and Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin), a South Korean heiress. Firstly, it would be difficult to find a North Korean soldier with a similar physique to Hyun Bin, and secondly, it is too far-fetched that Yoon Se Ri could successfully return to South Korea. Then there’s the iconic romantic moment between the BinJin couple as they walk toward each other while North Korean and South Korean agents allow them to have their moment amid border tensions. If Delusions were a K-drama, this would be it Crash landing on you.

5. What’s wrong with Foreign Minister Kim?

If Delulu were human, he would probably look like Lee Young Joon (Park Seo Joon). What’s wrong with Foreign Minister Kim?. His egocentric “aura” would be absolutely terrifying if it weren’t for Park Seo Joon’s hilarious performance and good looks. The fact that Kim Mi So (Park Min Young) has quietly endured her narcissistic boss’s antics for almost a decade instead of calling it quits long ago is incredible.

6. Goblin

Delusional K-dramas “Queen of Tears”, Lovely Runner

How Nice runner, leprechaun relies heavily on the fantasy genre for storytelling. What we find delusional is the fact that the cult series convinced us that Goblin (Gong Yoo) and Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook) are absolute boyfriend material. And we have to completely ignore the unhealthy age difference between Goblin and Kim Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun), who met when the latter was still a high school student.

7. True beauty

Delusional K-dramas “Queen of Tears”, Lovely Runner

When the central theme of a K-drama is beauty, the stereotypical treatment of an “ugly” person is as follows: an acne-prone face, unkempt hair, and large-framed glasses. True beauty is no different. While the popular teen rom-com K-drama has its moments that explore the true meaning of beauty, viewers will have to throw logic to the wind as they witness Lim Ju Kyung’s (Moon Ga Young) physical transformation with and without Looking at makeup. What’s even weirder is that Lee Su Ho (ASTRO Cha Eun Woo) can’t tell the difference between the naked and makeup-laden Lee Ji Kyung.
