Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a shooting in East Lake on Friday.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim Monday as Paul Devaried Terry Jr. He was 20 years old and lived in Birmingham.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a person who had been shot in the 8300 block of Fourth Avenue North.

When they arrived, they found the victim in a shed behind an abandoned house. This property borders East Lake Park.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service determined the Terry man was dead at the scene at 12:40 p.m

Sergeant. LaQuitta Wade said Terry was in the neighborhood visiting someone at a home in the 8200 block of Fourth Avenue North.

The person he was visiting had another visitor and a verbal altercation ensued between Terry and the other visitor.
