Five, including four students of a private college, died in a road accident in Kanpur

KANPUR: Four students of a private college were among five people killed when their car was crushed between two speeding trucks on the Ruma Bhaunti flyover here on Monday, police said.

The incident took place when the students were on their way to their college, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Rajesh Kumar Singh.

The bodies were removed by cutting open the mangled car.

The deceased students have been identified as Ayushi Patel (first year computer science), Garima Tripathi (second year computer science), Satish Kumar (third year computer science and engineering) and Prateek Singh (fourth year electronics and communication engineering).

The identity of the driver still needs to be clarified.

“All four students were traveling in a driver-driven car on their way to Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology and had barely reached Panki when their car got trapped between two trucks,” Singh told PTI.

The terrible accident killed five people, including four students and a driver.

The drivers of both trucks fled the scene soon after the accident, leaving the trucks behind, he said, adding that both trucks were impounded. The bodies were sent for autopsy.
