SUV accident in West Hollywood under LASD investigation, tragedy

Two SUVs collide at Fountain and Spaulding, one is killed.

According to a press release from LASD, traffic investigators from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred near the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Spaulding Avenue in West Hollywood on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at approximately 4:37 p.m.

According to preliminary reports from LASD, two Ford SUVs were involved in the accident. A male driver, who was the sole occupant of a vehicle, was traveling north on Spaulding Avenue. The other vehicle, driven by a male adult with a female passenger, was traveling eastbound on Fountain Avenue. The vehicles collided as they entered the intersection.

The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, as reported in our previous article, one of the SUVs crashed into a building and two people became trapped in the wreckage of their cars, requiring LAFD to extricate them from the vehicles.

A 30-year-old man involved in the crash was reportedly in serious condition and a 70-year-old man reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Authorities have not yet determined whether speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
