Stabbing is treated as a racial hate crime

A 27-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in what police are treating as a racially motivated hate crime.

It happened just after 1:40am BST on Sunday at a shop in the Foyle Street area of ​​Londonderry.

The man was taken to hospital for injuries to his left shoulder and lower back, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 24-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault, possession of an offensive weapon and theft.
