UPDATE: State Police are investigating fatal crash involving two people in Clay

UPDATE:

The investigation revealed that a 2014 Ford Mustang was traveling north on County Route 57, ran a red light at the intersection and struck a 2016 Ford Escape traveling west on State Route 31.

The sole occupant of the 2014 Mustang driven by Michael E. PaetowAge 72, of Liverpool, NY, was taken to Upstate University Hospital and pronounced dead.

The operator of the Escape 2016, Shaylee A Allen26 years old, from Tully, NY, and passenger Roxanne Rizzo (11 months old) sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger, Dawn M. Brown58, of Syracuse, New York, was taken to Upstate University Hospital and pronounced dead.

On October 13, 2024, at approximately 11:17 a.m., Lysander and North Syracuse State Police responded to a two-car injury accident at the intersection of State Route 31 and County Route 57 (Oswego Road) in the Town of Clay.

The investigation is currently ongoing and state police can confirm that two people died in the accident.

State Police are currently on scene reconstructing the accident, conducting interviews and asking citizens to avoid the area. The expected closure time will be three to four hours. Further information will be provided to you as it becomes available.
