  • India will play a three-match Test series against New Zealand.
  • Mohammed Shami is not in the squad, there are reports of injuries.
  • Another pacer part of the squad is again struggling with injury concerns.

India is scheduled to take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series on November 16. According to reports, this will be the case Mohammed Shami would return to the squad after being out of action for almost a year due to injury. However, he was left out of the squad’s naming after he reportedly sustained another knee injury during his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Now another pacer who was part of the squad has fresh injury concerns before the start of the first friendly match.

Prasidh Krishna did not enter the field on the third day of the Ranji Trophy match for Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. This led to concerns over his fitness just days after he returned to cricket following a quadriceps injury after eight months in the 2024 Duleep Trophy.

Is Prasidh Krishna injured?

Although it is not officially known why he did not enter the field on the third day of the match, a report by Sportstar said that the 28-year-old fast bowler felt some discomfort while running on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy match. In particular, the outfield at the Holkar Stadium in Indore was slippery following persistent rains and the second day’s play was completely washed out.

The report also states that Prasidh Krishna is highly rated by the Indian think tank and will be one of the main candidates to be included in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Therefore, his suspension could just be a precautionary measure.

Prasidh Krishna was included as one of the four traveling reserve players alongside the main squad India vs New Zealand Test series.
