GISBH caretaker accused of fondling teenager’s penis in social home

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 – A supervisor of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) was charged in the Sessions Court in Butterworth, Penang today with sexually harassing a minor at a charity home run by the company.

According to The Star, Muhammad Miqdam Muhammad Amir requested the trial after the charges were read out to him in the court by Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah.

Miqdam allegedly sexually abused the then 13-year-old boy by stroking his penis about two years ago at Rumah Jagaan Harapan Al Mahabbah, Jalan Bagan Buaya, Bagan Buaya in Nibong Tebal.

If convicted of the charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017, he faces up to 20 years in prison and flogging.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Amira Ruzaini Wan Abdul Razak led the prosecution, while Miqdam was represented by Naqieya Zulkernain of the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).

GISBH is linked to the banned Al-Arqam sect and is at the center of a nationwide child abuse and human trafficking scandal that has horrified the country.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said investigations were also underway into possible extremist indoctrination of children in the welfare homes.
