CANADA (VINnews) – In a frightening incident, a Chabad girls’ school in Toronto was hit by gunfire early on the morning of Yom Kippur for the second time this year, local police said. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “very disturbed” by the incident.

No one was injured after shots were fired from a vehicle at the Bais Chaya Mushka girls’ school around 4 a.m. The bullets reportedly shattered a window. .

Police believe this shooting is related to a similar incident in May in which the same school was attacked.

“As we wait for more details, my thoughts are with the students, staff and parents who are fearful and suffering today,” Trudeau said in a post on X. “Anti-Semitism is a vile and dangerous form of hate – and we won.” “Don’t leave it alone,” he added.

In July, a school bus used by the Hasidic yeshiva in Bobov was found set on fire early Monday morning in an apparent hate crime. It’s pretty clear that this was a case of arson.

Additionally, a fire on the grounds of a Jewish day school, the Leo Baeck School, was initially classified as “not a hate crime,” but was subject to further investigation due to suspicious circumstances.

In November 2023, a Jewish school in Montreal was hit by gunfire twice within a week. In May, a synagogue in Vancouver was damaged in a suspected arson attack.
